This role is built for an experienced field leader who excels in fast‑paced, detail‑heavy corporate interiors work. The Interiors Superintendent will oversee all on‑site construction activities for tenant improvements, office renovations, medical interiors, and specialty corporate spaces across North Carolina. Candidates must bring 10‑15 years of experience working for a general contractor on interior projects and the ability to manage tight schedules, occupied environments, and high‑finish expectations.
Role Overview The Interiors Superintendent directs daily field operations from demolition through punch‑out, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule alignment. This leader thrives in complex interior environments where coordination, communication, and precision are essential. The role requires strong relationships with subcontractors, design partners, and clients, as well as the ability to deliver polished, high‑quality spaces with minimal disruption.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day field operations on corporate interiors and tenant improvement projects, ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
Manage subcontractor sequencing, manpower planning, and daily production to maintain aggressive interiors schedules.
Oversee installation of framing, drywall, ceilings, millwork, finishes, MEP rough‑in, and final punch‑out.
Coordinate closely with building management, especially in occupied or partially occupied environments.
Conduct daily huddles, weekly coordination meetings, and regular progress walks with project teams and ownership groups.
Maintain site logistics, material deliveries, equipment coordination, and site access control within tight interior spaces.
Enforce OSHA requirements and company safety protocols; drive a culture of proactive risk mitigation.
Review drawings, submittals, and RFIs; identify constructability issues and coordinate timely resolutions.
Maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, inspections, as‑builts, and safety records.
Collaborate closely with the Project Manager on schedule updates, procurement needs, cost impacts, and change management.
Lead QA/QC efforts, punch‑out, and turnover activities to ensure a high‑quality final product.
Qualifications
10‑15 years of Superintendent experience with a general contractor on commercial interiors projects.
Proven success delivering corporate interiors, tenant improvements, medical interiors, or specialty office renovations.
Strong understanding of interior building systems, finishes, MEP coordination, and fast‑track project delivery.
Proficiency with construction management platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar).
Excellent communication, leadership, and subcontractor management skills.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents with precision.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to maintain clear direction under pressure.
