$65,000 to $80,000 Base
THE ROLE A hands‑on customs entry writing position with an established international freight forwarder based in Cranford, NJ. This is a role for someone who knows their way around an entry, understands classification, and can work at pace without cutting corners. The business handles a broad mix of air and ocean import freight and the customs team sits at the centre of that operation. Three days in the office, two from home. The work is there, the volume is consistent, and the team around you knows what they are doing.
THE BUSINESS An established freight forwarder with a strong presence in the Northeast, handling air and ocean imports across a varied client base spanning retail, manufacturing, and consumer goods.
This is not a business where you will be left to figure things out on your own. The operations are structured, the client relationships are long standing, and the customs function is well resourced. For someone who takes their work seriously, it is a good place to be.
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES
Preparing and filing customs entries for air and ocean import shipments.
Classifying goods accurately under the HTS schedule and applying the correct duty rates.
Communicating with clients, carriers, and brokers to resolve queries and keep freight moving.
Working closely with the operations and forwarding teams to ensure timely clearance.
Staying current with CBP regulations, trade compliance requirements, and any changes to tariff schedules.
WHAT YOU NEED
A background in customs entry writing with experience across air and ocean imports.
Solid working knowledge of HTS classification, CBP entry types, and import documentation.
Experience with a customs software platform, ACE filing experience preferred.
Someone who is accurate under pressure and does not let things slip through the cracks.
A CBP licence is not required for this role.
THE PACKAGE
$65,000 to $80,000 base salary dependent on experience.
Hybrid working, three days in the office and two from home.
