Overview CUSTOMS ENTRY WRITER | AIR & OCEAN FREIGHT New York, NY | Office Based $65,000 to $80,000 Base | Full Benefits THE ROLE A hands-on customs entry writing position with an established international freight forwarder based in New York. This is a fully office based role. The team is on the floor together, the volume is consistent, and the pace reflects what you would expect from one of the busiest import markets in the country. If you are looking for a remote setup this is not it, but if you want to be in the middle of a team that takes customs seriously, it is worth a look. THE BUSINESS An established freight forwarder with deep roots in the New York market, handling air and ocean imports across a broad client base including retail, manufacturing, technology, and consumer goods. JFK sits at the centre of some of the most active TransPacific and European trade lanes in North America. The customs team here deals with real volume, varied commodity types, and clients who expect things done properly and on time. WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES Preparing and filing customs entries for air and ocean import shipments through ACE. Classifying goods accurately under the HTS schedule and applying the correct duty rates. Communicating with clients, carriers, and CBP to resolve queries and keep freight moving. Working alongside the operations and forwarding teams to ensure timely and compliant clearance. Keeping up with CBP regulations, tariff schedule changes, and trade compliance requirements as they evolve. WHAT YOU NEED A background in customs entry writing with experience across air and ocean imports. Solid working knowledge of HTS classification, CBP entry types, and import documentation. ACE filing experience and familiarity with a customs software platform. Accurate under pressure and someone who does not let details slip. A CBP licence is not required for this role. THE PACKAGE $65,000 to $80,000 base salary dependent on experience. Full benefits package. Office based five days a week in New York. INTERESTED?
