Position Description – What the Role Entails The Residential Advisor (RA) will provide direct service to at‑risk youth with the goal of successful transition into the community. The position requires general supervision of residents, teaching appropriate daily living and social skills, implementation of the daily schedule, behavior management, crisis intervention, group work, implementation of recreational activities, report writing and records management, and overseeing all other aspects of daily living for the residents. The RA is expected to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times with participants, family members, co‑workers, and individuals from outside Rincon Family Services.

Areas of Accountability – What You Will Be Doing
Supervise and monitor the whereabouts and activities of all assigned residents during the scheduled shift of a 24‑hour day.
Maintain current knowledge through participation in mandatory training.
Understand the goals of the program and the RA role in the Transitional Living Program.
Follow all Rincon policies and procedures in the performance of duties.
Utilize available program resources and materials to meet the needs of the participants.
Employ established Transitional Living Program standards.
Manage the behavior of residents through approved behavioral management interventions and work with participants toward goal accomplishment.
Enforce rules and apply appropriate consequences consistently.
Implement individual management plans with a teamwork approach and provide suggestions based on observations.
Effectively manage the daily routine and follow TLP schedules.
Lead Life Skills groups per level responsibilities.
Assist participants in identifying behavioral alternatives and selecting appropriate behaviors.
Address and resolve conflict between participants.
Reinforce positive behaviors with a positive approach.
Maintain safety, cleanliness, and overall conditions of the TLP units.
Provide transportation for participants within program guidelines.
Maintain alertness to potentially unsafe situations and respond to maintain a safe environment.
Monitor participant behavior to ensure they are not a danger to themselves, others, or staff.
Serve as a positive and stable role model and authority figure.
Build caring and positive relationships with participants.
Consider any cultural factors impacting the client or their level of participation.
Participate in team meetings, supervisory sessions, and other program meetings regularly.
Establish positive working relationships with all members of the team.
Collaborate with all team members and assist others who request help.

Work Environment – What to Expect The job location is an office setting with a well‑organized layout and ergonomic equipment. Physical demands include performing rounds every 45 minutes, climbing two flights of stairs, and driving participants to various destinations. A valid Illinois driver’s license and reliable automobile are required.

Position Qualifications – What Is Required to Perform the Role
At least 21 years of age.
High school diploma.
Initial medical examination proving freedom from communicable diseases; reexamined every two years.
Demonstrated ability to work within agency structure and accept supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work constructively with other agencies and the community.
Experience with computer software for data entry, communication, and report writing.
Open and respectful of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients; competent to work with diverse populations.
Team‑player mindset.
Valid Illinois driver’s license and reliable automobile; driving participants required.
Excellent organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented writing.
Capability to perform rounds every 45 minutes, including climbing stairs.
Willingness to work assigned shifts and other shifts as needed.
Proficiency in spoken English.
Salary $19.00 – $21.00 per hour.
