Position Summary Technical Designer – Fashion (Location: NYC) At Walmart, our mission is to help people save money so they can live better. As a Technical Designer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of retail by ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and value. Core Job Responsibilities Fit Evaluation: Participate in live fit sessions using fit models, pattern expertise, and fit forms to evaluate samples for fit, performance, and functionality. Ensure alignment with design intent and customer performance expectations. Pattern Development: Utilize 2D & 3D pattern tools to validate initial patterns, blocks, and grading during product development through production. Support the maintenance of grade rule tables and block libraries. Customer‑Centric Product Integrity: Apply a data‑led approach focused on customer insights and returns‑based learning loops to help elevate fit and meet customer expectations. Quality Assurance: Support quality assurance processes through development, production, and post‑purchase stages. Participate in internal and external wear tests and help implement corrective actions as needed. Provide technical input on fit and construction to vendor partners. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Design, Product Development, and Sourcing teams and vendors to help define and execute appropriate fit and functional intent for each product. Technical Package Management: Use PLM systems to help create and maintain detailed technical packages, including specs, grading, construction details, and fit evaluation comments. Preferred Qualifications 3‑5+ years of experience in technical design or related roles Strong analytical skills and a passion for solving technical challenges Experience with grading, fit transformation, and participation in fit sessions Working knowledge of PLM, 3D, CAD, and related tools within the product development ecosystem Understanding of fit, fabric, and pattern development for apparel, with experience in performance fabrics and technical finishes as a plus Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in apparel design and construction Customer‑centric, innovative, and passionate about apparel trends Data‑driven and technology‑savvy Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams Embrace a test‑and‑learn mentality and agile ways of working Benefits & Perks Beyond competitive pay, you can receive incentive awards for your performance. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Textiles, Design, or related field and 2 years’ experience in technical design, product development, or relevant area OR 4 years’ experience in technical design, product development, or relevant area. Preferred Qualifications (additional) Apparel Manufacturing, Product Development, Working on cross‑functional teams or projects; Masters in Design. Primary Location 45 W 25th St, New York, NY 10010, United States of America Salary & Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00 – $216,000.00.
