Expected Salary Range: $80,000–$90,000 annually

The Opportunity The Director of Development works in close collaboration with the Executive Director (ED), Board of Directors, and Development Committee to lead and strengthen the organization’s fundraising strategy and external partnerships. This leadership role is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations, while also overseeing all grant-related activities.

In this role, the Director will design and implement comprehensive annual fundraising campaigns through both mail and digital platforms, with a focus on expanding individual giving and corporate sponsorships.

A key priority will be to foster a culture of philanthropy that is embraced across the organization, ensuring strong and consistent donor stewardship. The Director will serve as the primary point of contact for all fundraising and outreach efforts, managing donor engagement and recognition activities such as events, meetings, and special programs. Additionally, this individual will act as a brand ambassador, strengthening the organization’s visibility and reputation within the community and among funding partners.

The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, excellent written communication skills, and a deep passion for the organization’s mission, with the ability to inspire generosity and secure lasting support.

Roles and Responsibilities Donor Stewardship & Management

Manage the CRM database and strategically use data to support fundraising campaigns.

Structure and oversee a timely and meaningful gift acknowledgment program.

Collect, organize, and maintain accurate records of donors and funding sources.

Campaign and Fundraising

Collaborate on the strategic direction of fundraising campaigns and initiatives to maintain the fiscal health of contributed revenue.

Work closely with the Executive Director to establish long-term fundraising goals aligned with the organization’s strategic plan.

Serve as the primary contact for charitable foundations, corporate sponsors, and a portfolio of individual donors.

Secure contributions that meet or exceed annual fundraising goals established by the Board of Directors.

Internal & External Communications

Maintain clear and consistent communication with staff, volunteers, and board members.

Support efforts to expand the Board of Directors through active recruitment.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required (an associate degree may be substituted with 7 years of nonprofit experience).

Minimum of 5 years nonprofit experience in a direct fundraising and/or development role with demonstrated success.

Proven track record of exceeding fundraising goals.

Competencies and Preferred Skills

Ability and confidence to interact with varied constituencies including board members and volunteers.

Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Strong leadership ability with a creative, energetic, and strategic approach.

Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills with a results-oriented mindset.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

High level of comfort working with CRM databases.

Marketing capabilities, particularly with social media.

Interest or experience in the youth nonprofit sector is a plus.

Working Conditions Frequent travel to off-site meetings may be required. Occasional weekend and evening hours are expected for events and special programs. The role may also require prolonged periods of sitting.
