Job Overview
A law firm seeks an experienced attorney specializing in land use and real estate development in Paramus, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have expertise in New Jersey's regulatory and zoning landscape, focusing on redevelopment, affordable housing, and public infrastructure projects. Duties
Prepare and present applications for zoning variances, site plan approvals, and subdivisions before NJ planning/zoning boards. Negotiate and draft redevelopment agreements, PILOTs, and financial agreements under NJ's Local Redevelopment and Housing Law. Advise on compliance with NJ's Municipal Land Use Law, Fair Housing Act, and Mt. Laurel obligations for affordable housing. Conduct due diligence for acquisitions, including environmental reviews and title/survey analysis. Serve as counsel to NJ municipalities, redevelopment agencies, and planning/zoning boards. Draft ordinances, resolutions, and agreements for public-private partnerships. Advise on compliance with Open Public Meetings Act, Local Public Contracts Law, and Pay-to-Play regulations. Defend land use approvals and redevelopment decisions in NJ Superior Court and other legal forums. Handle disputes involving eminent domain, Title 59 claims, and construction defects. Represent clients in appeals of zoning denials or violations. Requirements
NJ Bar admission; 10 years of experience in NJ land use/zoning law, redevelopment, and real estate law. Demonstrated client-facing skills and ability to build strong relationships. Track record securing approvals for mixed-use developments, transit-oriented projects, or brownfield redevelopment. Experience drafting redevelopment agreements, tax abatement terms, and financial agreements. Familiarity with NJ's environmental regulations. Education
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications
Admission to the New Jersey State Bar. Skills
