Job Description Athletic Director (Grades 9–12)
The Athletic Director is responsible for organizing, administering, and managing the district’s interscholastic athletic program for grades 9–12. This position ensures compliance with OHSAA regulations, Title IX, district policies, and all applicable safety and financial procedures, while promoting a positive and educational‑based athletic environment.
Essential Functions
Compliance and Oversight
Ensure all athletic programs operate in accordance with OHSAA rules, district policies, and Title IX requirements.
Conduct parent meetings prior to each season to review regulations, safety protocols, and eligibility requirements.
Arrange for a certified athletic trainer at all grades 9–12 contests; when unavailable, ensure coaches are trained in emergency procedures.
Be present at all grades 9–12 varsity home contests and other events where large crowds are anticipated to ensure safety and compliance.
Fiscal Responsibility
Serve as treasurer of all grades 9–12 athletic funds and oversee the athletic budget in collaboration with the district treasurer.
Count gate receipts and deposits.
Conduct ticket sales for all grades 9–12 contests, maintain accurate records of sales, passes, and complimentary admissions.
Program Management and Operations
Approve all grades 9–12 athletic contests and prepare contracts specifying date, time, and location; maintain current and organized records.
Issue contracts for officials as needed (e.g., freshman contests, rescheduled games).
Schedule and coordinate the use of athletic facilities in conjunction with the junior high athletic director.
Input all athletic events into the Master Calendar and request transportation accordingly.
Equipment and Awards Management
Order, distribute, and maintain all grades 9–12 athletic equipment.
Present awards and ensure recognition programs comply with district standards.
Supervise control and storage of all athletic equipment.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills: Demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting the academic, social, and athletic development of all students.
Possesses effective communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students.
Meets qualifications as determined by the district administration and the Ohio Revised Code (ORC); position may be classified or certified, with a certified/licensed educator preferred.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, teachers, administrators, coaches, and members of the community.
Exhibits strong organizational and program management skills necessary to effectively administer interscholastic athletic programs.
Demonstrates the ability to establish, implement, and adhere to schedules and timelines.
Bachelor degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
