GEA Group is growing! Our Pharma and Food Applications Division is now searching for a Service Sales Engineer to join our team to service the Great Lakes Region of the US. The Service Sales Engineer has the responsibility to promote and secure the sale of spare parts, repairs, field service, equipment upgrades /modernizations and service level agreements for PFA NAM Service business. They are responsible for implementing the group‑wide sales strategy, ensuring a coordinated customer approach, with counterparts in Customer Support, Field Service and Engineering.
Please note that the incumbent must reside within the Great Lakes area for this role and must live in the Great Lakes territory.
Responsibilities
Work with the Service Sales Manager and other business areas to fine‑tune and implement service sales strategy for the area of responsibility.
Lead service sales activities for the assigned territory and prioritize initiatives.
Identify opportunities for service sales.
Actively manage key customer accounts in the assigned territory; act as the complete contact for the account.
Travel to the customer for visits that shall include necessary presentations / demonstrations as required to enhance the sales opportunity and promote GEA.
In addition, verify and keep current the Ibase for that location.
Be responsible for large project spare parts / repair orders / modernizations – provide quotes, follow up and ensure the sale is executed in a timely manner.
Develop the correct sales contacts at each customer location.
Participate in trade shows promoting equipment service sales activity along with new equipment sales.
Provide market feedback (competition, trends, etc.) to the Director of Service Sales and regionally responsible service management.
Utilize all available GEA resources to generate sales – new equipment salespersons, field service technicians, customer support representatives, procurement, etc.
Travel up to 60% of the time; some international travel may be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred but not required.
5+ years of technical territory sales experience highly preferred.
Must have excellent written and verbal skills, especially face‑to‑face meetings to convey, convince and negotiate service sales.
Ability to read and understand market trends and competitor developments and adapt accordingly.
Familiarity with the concept of service offerings and local market requirements of different customer groups a plus.
Excellent communicator, written and verbal, able to work with individuals across a wide range of levels, functions, brands and cultures.
Ability to travel up to 60% of time; some international travel may be required.
Compensation & Location The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year. The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; the estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job‑related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
