Job Description The Director of Building Envelopes / Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) leads and manages all facets of our FISP department for the Hicksville and NYC offices. This senior‑leadership position demands a minimum of five years’ hands‑on FISP compliance experience, active certification as a Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector (QEWI), and proven ability to guide technical teams, cultivate client relationships, and drive business growth. A Qualified Parking Structures Inspector (QPSI) license is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Department Management
Set strategic direction for the FISP team, ensuring full compliance with Local Law 11 and related codes
Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Recruit, mentor and manage inspectors, engineers, and administrative staff
FISP Compliance & Technical Oversight
Oversee scheduling and execution of façade inspections, audits, and remedial assessments
Coordinate with internal QEWI‑certified staff and external vendors to ensure timely, accurate filing with NYC DOB
Implement and maintain rigorous QA/QC processes for all inspection deliverables
Regulatory & Reporting
Maintain expert knowledge of all applicable building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
Review, sign and seal all façade inspection reports as a QEWI
Ensure that every report accurately classifies conditions (e.g., Safe, Unsafe, SWARMP, SREM) and is submitted on schedule
Client & Business Development
Cultivate and expand client relationships within municipal, government, and private sectors
Collaborate with Marketing and Proposal teams to develop compelling technical proposals and presentations
Identify cross‑sell and upsell opportunities for complementary services
Budgeting & Resource Allocation
Develop, monitor and optimize departmental budgets
Procure and manage inspection equipment, software, and other resources
Approve project invoices and coordinate billing workflows with accounting
Training & Professional Development
Plan and deliver ongoing training to keep the team current on code changes and inspection techniques
Support staff in maintaining and obtaining additional certifications (e.g., PE license, ACI testing credentials)
Serve as subject‑matter expert and mentor for complex technical issues
Job Requirements Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline (Master’s preferred)
Active certification as a Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector (QEWI)
Qualified Parking Structures Inspector (QPSI) license highly preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license highly desirable
Demonstrated leadership and team‑management experience
Deep familiarity with Local Law 11, DOB filing procedures, and industry best practices
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and client‑relationship skills
Proficiency with inspection/reporting software and data‑management tools
Ability to thrive under deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
