Job Description Position Title:
Assistant Band Director
Location:
All campuses (5-12)
Salary:
Competitive and well above base pay, $449 towards employee healthcare premiums, Retention Stipend, TIA District
Length of Contract:
11 months
Position Summary:
Energetic and highly motivated individual to direct and manage the overall program of instrumental music for the district. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with all state, UIL and district requirements. Assistant Director will team teach all band activities grades 5-12, including HS marching band, concert bands at both elementary and high school, teach all-region and UIL solo & ensemble materials, and a small number of music classes at the elementary campus.
The HCISD band program is in a rebuilding stage after several years of not competing in UIL competition. However, the band has now earned three straight UIL sweepstakes awards, advanced to the state marching contest, and placed 5th in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series over the last three seasons. This is a perfect time for a director to join a band looking to continue building upon this success.
Special consideration will be given to woodwind specialists and those with guard experience, but strong teachers are all encouraged to apply.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Knowledge of overall operations of instrumental music program
Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.
CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements is strongly recommended.
