Job Title Assistant Director for Case Management & Engagement (260002DI)

Description Join Salem State University's Retention Services as an Assistant Director for Case Management & Engagement, where you'll provide leadership for case management and retention efforts through Navigate360 (N360) to make a meaningful difference in students' academic journeys. Reporting to the Senior Director of Retention Services and Director of Veterans’ Affairs, this position serves as the primary liaison between faculty and staff, advising units, and Retention Services to ensure timely, effective, and equity‑minded outreach to students experiencing academic and/or day‑to‑day challenges. This role is designed to strengthen faculty and staff engagement in early alert and case management practices by providing leadership for Faculty Lead Advisors, overseeing the onboarding and preparation of faculty and staff case managers, advancing collaboration across academic units, and evaluating the effectiveness of case management systems and practices. While this role does not supervise staff case managers, it exercises operational leadership over shared structures, standards, and communications to support a cohesive, campus‑wide approach to student support.

In this role, you'll provide comprehensive support to students facing personal, academic, or behavioral challenges while fostering an inclusive campus environment where everyone can thrive.

Please Note:

This position is grant‑funded and renewal each year is contingent on continued funding.

Responsibilities Lead and oversee the case management and retention strategies across the university, ensuring effective and equity‑minded outreach.

Serve as the primary liaison among faculty, staff, advising units, and Retention Services.

Oversee onboarding and preparation of faculty and staff case managers.

Advance collaboration across academic units and evaluate case management system effectiveness.

Provide comprehensive support to students facing personal, academic, or behavioral challenges.

Qualifications

Three to five years in academic advising, student success, retention, or faculty support roles.

Experience using Navigate360 or comparable student success platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Higher Education Student Affairs or closely related field.

Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship‑building skills.

Experience coordinating faculty‑led advising or retention initiatives.

Experience developing and delivering faculty training or professional development.

Knowledge of equity‑minded advising and intervention practices.

Working Location This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with on‑campus, in‑person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
