Job Description Job Purpose
The
Sales Tax Analyst
is responsible for supporting all aspects of Sales and Use Tax compliance, including the accurate preparation, filing, and timely payment of tax returns in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. This role also assists with tax accounting functions and supports tax‑related special projects as needed to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across the organization.

Sales Tax Manager
Responsibilities
Sales & Use Tax Compliance
– Prepare and file monthly and quarterly state sales and use tax returns accurately and on time, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations.
Audit Support & Representation
– Assist with sales tax audits by responding to information requests, compiling required documentation, and supporting the presentation of the company’s tax positions.
Exemption Certificate Management
– Review, approve, and maintain customer exemption certificates, ensuring accurate records and timely system updates.
Tax Research & Regulatory Monitoring
– Research and interpret multi‑state sales and use tax laws, monitor legislative changes, and maintain accurate tax rates and rules within tax software systems.
Process Improvement & Issue Resolution
– Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy through process enhancements and technology, while resolving customer, vendor, and tax authority inquiries and notices.
Qualifications Requirements
Advanced Excel & Data Skills
– Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and What‑If analysis; ability to work quickly and accurately with large, complex datasets.
Analytical & Numerical Strength
– Strong quantitative skills with a proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and deliver precise results in a fast‑paced environment.
Education & Experience (Preferred)
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, along with 1–3 years of relevant professional experience; equivalent experience considered.
Tax or Financial Exposure (Preferred)
– Prior exposure to sales and use tax, indirect tax, or a related accounting or finance function.
Learning Agility & Problem Solving
– Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and concepts quickly, think critically, and apply sound judgment to solve problems.
