works with individuals with mild to moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as those who are neurodivergent, in the CHAI Employment Services program. This role works closely with clients one-on-one to explore vocational interests, identify strengths and skills, and develop individualized employment goals. Through guidance, coaching, and advocacy, the Employment Specialist helps clients prepare for, obtain, and maintain competitive employment opportunities that align with their abilities and aspirations. TheEmployment Specialist also builds relationships with local employers and community partners, creating pathways to inclusive workplaces and long-term job success. By providing ongoing support, encouragement, and practical job coaching, this role helps individuals gain independence, confidence, and a stronger sense of purpose through meaningful work. This is a full-time Monday-Friday position with no on-call duties. The hours are flexible; with some early evening hours required 1-2 days/week. Clients will be seen in person throughout the Greater Boston area, out of our Waltham office, and virtually. Highlights

Perform all parts of Job Development & Placement for assigned client caseload including: Creating working relationships with local employers and in the non-profit community in an effort to develop contacts and opportunities for employment. General and individualized job searching/job carving (with and without the individual). Vocational counseling, including assessment of interests and skills. Creating and following through with individualized employment plans. Resume and cover letter development. Assisting with interviews/interview preparation. Training individuals on specific job duties, including creation of tools/systems to maximize independence. Training individuals in soft skills related to successful attainment and maintenance of employment. Providing on-the-job support to ensure successful integration into jobs and the employer community. Providing training and support to supervisors and natural supports at job/community placements. Effectively fading on job supports based on the individual’s needs and employer requests. Maintaining relationships with supervisors and natural supports at job/community placements, as well as the individuals’ support teams, for on-going collaboration, developing opportunities for growth, and troubleshooting any issues. Perform case management tasks including coordination and assistance with application for health care, housing, and SNAP (food stamp) benefits; as well as coordinating these services when several services/providers are involved. Establish a trusting and supportive relationship with clients from diverse backgrounds; provide high quality, compassionate, and ethical care. Collaborate with families, DDS, other service providers, and other collateral contacts.. Meet with clients in the community, their homes, Waltham office, or virtually. Participate in trainings and team meetings, and be an active, collaborative member of the JF&CS case management teams. Education/Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Teaching, Business or related field, required. At least 1 year experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in vocational or community integrated settings, highly preferred. Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, other intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or psychiatric conditions. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to pass First Aid/CPR. A valid driver’s license and a reliable, insured vehicle (mileage is reimbursed). Strong verbal and written communication skills; organizational skills; and high level of attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and as a part of a group. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Outlook. Capability with electronic case record software for agency documentation (Salesforce); training will be provided ABOUT JF&CS
