Overview
The Director of Accounting and Finance is a pivotal leadership role that bridges high-level financial strategy with meticulous operational execution. We are seeking a strategic partner who can navigate the complexities of international trade, manage intricate multi-year commercial agreements, and foster a professional, high-performance culture within the finance team.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership
- P&L and Performance Management: Oversee the accuracy of Profit & Loss statements, ensuring precise classification of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and providing actionable insights into margin performance.
- Cash Flow & Capital Planning: Lead rigorous cash flow forecasting and management to support long-term operational stability and infrastructure investments.
- Budgetary Oversight: Drive the annual budgeting process and provide rolling forecasts that align with both local growth targets and global organizational objectives.
- Multi-Year Contract & Agreement Evaluation
- Customer Agreement Analysis: Evaluate complex, multi-year sales contracts to ensure financial viability, assessing revenue recognition implications, payment terms, and long-term profitability.
- Vendor Strategy: Review and negotiate multi-year master service agreements (MSAs) and vendor contracts, focusing on price stability, escalation clauses, and risk mitigation in a fluctuating global market.
- Financial Risk Mitigation: Partner with Sales and Procurement teams to provide financial modeling and sensitivity analysis for high-value, long-term project commitments.
- International Diplomacy & Parent Company Liaison
- HQ Reporting: Serve as the primary financial liaison to our international headquarters, delivering transparent and timely financial reporting that meets both local and global standards.
- Intercompany Alignment: Manage complex intercompany billing, transfer pricing, and contract management, ensuring compliance and harmony between the U.S. subsidiary and the parent organization.
- Executive Collaboration: Maintain a warm and professional relationship with global executive leadership, acting as a trusted advisor on U.S. financial performance and market conditions.
- Global Trade & Compliance
- Tariff & HTS Management: Oversee the financial accounting for international trade, including HTS code classification and the impact of Section 232 tariffs on project margins.
- Controls & Audit: Maintain a robust internal control environment and lead the annual audit process, ensuring total integrity across inventory and capital accounts.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA designation is highly preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, ideally within the electrical infrastructure, manufacturing, or power distribution sectors.
- Contractual Expertise: Demonstrated experience evaluating the financial mechanics of complex, multi-year commercial agreements.
- International Proficiency: Proven track record working within a global corporate structure, including experience with international reporting and trade compliance.
- Leadership Style: A "player-coach" who leads with professionalism and an upbeat, collaborative approach to team management.
- Strategic Mindset: The ability to see beyond the numbers to the operational and diplomatic implications of financial decisions.
