KVIA-TV in El Paso/Las Cruces is seeking a motivated multimedia journalist to join our team. You will cover the issues important to our viewers in the Borderland and Southern New Mexico.

The El Paso/Las Cruces market is at the epicenter of major humanitarian, economic and national security news & events. The ideal candidate will be a versatile professional with a strong on-air presence, exceptional storytelling abilities, and a keen understanding of multimedia journalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, produce, shoot, edit and deliver compelling news stories for on-air and digital platforms.
  • Conduct thorough research and interviews to gather accurate information for news reporting.
  • Collaborate with the news team to develop innovative story ideas and coverage plans.
  • Utilize social media platforms to engage with the audience and promote news content.
  • Engage viewers with dynamic live shots and stand-ups.
  • Adhere to strict journalistic standards, ethics, and guidelines in all reporting endeavors.
  • Stay updated on current events, trends, and developments to ensure comprehensive news coverage.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Strong on-air presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and multimedia production tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style, news writing principles, and storytelling techniques.
  • Flexibility to work early morning shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, MVR check, drug screening and possess a valid driver license.
