Position Summary
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall performance, compliance, culture, and sustainability of a residential treatment program serving adults with substance use disorders. This role partners closely with clinical leadership, corporate support services, and community stakeholders to ensure high-quality care, regulatory excellence, and strong census performance.
The ideal candidate is a steady, mission-driven leader with a strong operational backbone, a working knowledge of ASAM levels of care, and experience navigating Medicaid-heavy or mixed-payer environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day executive oversight of residential operations
- Set and execute strategic goals aligned with organizational growth and quality initiatives
- Foster a values-driven, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented culture
- Ensure compliance with state licensing, DMHA, Joint Commission, and payer requirements
- Participate in program policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives
- Maintain survey readiness and lead responses to audits and corrective actions
- Manage program budget, staffing models, and financial performance
- Collaborate with admissions, business development, and referral partners to support sustainable census
- Analyze KPIs related to length of stay, conversion rates, staffing ratios, and outcomes
- Lead, coach, and retain a multidisciplinary leadership team
- Ensure appropriate staffing, supervision, and professional development
- Address performance issues promptly and fairly
- Represent the organization with professionalism and discretion
- Support relationships with hospitals, courts, payers, and community partners

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, behavioral health, business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 2-5 years of senior leadership experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment
- Demonstrated experience overseeing residential or inpatient levels of care
- Strong knowledge of regulatory, licensing, and payer environments
- Experience in ASAM levels of care
- Joint Commission accreditation experience
- Financial and operational turnaround or growth experience
- Indiana licensure or familiarity with Indiana DMHA requirements
