Director, BI and Advanced Analytics

The Director of BI & Advanced Analytics will lead the organization’s dashboarding, operational reporting, and descriptive/diagnostic analytics functions. This hands‑on role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and actionable insights that drive day‑to‑day performance and inform strategic decision‑making. The Director will bridge the gap between junior analysts and leadership, mentoring the team while actively performing analytics work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and maintenance of executive dashboards and operational reporting.
  • Standardize KPIs and reporting definitions across departments.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance across all reports.
  • Deliver automated, scalable reporting solutions to reduce manual processes.
  • Present performance insights to senior leadership on a regular cadence.

Analytics

  • Analyze historical performance trends and operational metrics.
  • Conduct root‑cause analyses to explain performance drivers and variances.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and optimization opportunities through structured analysis.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations for business leaders.

Operational Performance

  • Partner with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Planning, Operations, and Merchandising teams to track performance against targets.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews with data‑driven insights.
  • Develop performance scorecards aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using analytics insights.

Team & Process Management

  • Lead, mentor, and elevate a team of analysts.
  • Establish reporting standards, documentation, and data quality protocols.
  • Improve data accessibility and usability across the organization.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance data pipelines and BI tools.

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years experience in analytics, business intelligence, or reporting roles, including 4+ years leading analytics or BI teams.
  • Strong expertise in SQL and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
  • Experience building executive dashboards and operational reporting frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills with emphasis on descriptive and diagnostic methods.
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
