Overview
Under close supervision of the Project Director III, this position is responsible for providing the overall administrative direction and management of all project phases on one or more infrastructure, medical/mental health, major capital outlay, energy and sustainability, and special repair projects that are less complex and sensitive in nature.
Responsibilities
The Project Director I will:
- Provide overall administrative direction for project phases.
- Manage project activities and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Working Conditions
Facility Planning, Construction and Management at the headquarters location offers a secured access facility with an on-site fitness center, free parking, and nearby shopping locations.
Travel statewide is required for site visits. The position is eligible for hybrid telework and requires occasional on‑site attendance. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
Minimum Requirements
Project Director I classification: $9,713.00 – $12,151.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum classification salary or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

- Applicants new to CDCR/CCHCS must complete a background investigation, Live Scan fingerprinting, and a tuberculosis test before appointment and annually thereafter.
