The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role provides strategic financial leadership, and directs the accounting and reporting functions for both the Finance team and IT. The Director of Finance partners with executive leadership to support data‑driven decision‑making and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while driving financial planning, operational efficiency, and long‑term growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership and Oversight

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory accounting, and cost allocations
  • Ensure accurate and timely month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes
  • Maintain the integrity of financial systems and internal controls
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors, customers, and the bank
  • Create KPI's, SOP's and provide leadership to the finance team

Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Direct the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (and/or IFRS, if applicable), tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements
  • Lead coordination of internal and external audits
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risk

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities
  • Provide financial modeling, scenario analysis, and strategic planning support
  • Partner with department leaders to align financial plans with operational objectives
  • Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions as needed

Inventory and Cost Management

  • Oversee inventory accounting and cost management processes
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost control
  • Analyze margins and cost drivers to improve profitability
  • Conduct cost analysis, breakeven analysis, and cost‑benefit evaluations for products, processes, services, and departments.

Strategic Decision Support

  • Provide actionable financial analysis to executive leadership
  • Develop KPIs and performance metrics to drive business outcomes
  • Support capital planning, cash flow management, and financing activities
  • Provide executive oversight of the IT function, ensuring alignment with business and financial objectives
  • Oversee financial systems, ERP platforms, cybersecurity risk management, and data integrity
  • Support evaluation, selection, and implementation of technology solutions
  • Ensure appropriate IT internal controls, system access protocols, and data security standards are maintained
  • Coordinate disaster recovery planning and business continuity efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA preferred
  • CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred
  • 8–12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (and/or IFRS), financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to think strategically while maintaining attention to operational detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross‑functional initiatives
