Job Description Job Summary The Director of Construction Management will lead Allied's Construction Management business unit, establishing the operational foundation and systems necessary to deliver consistent, high-quality project support services. This senior leadership position is responsible for managing client construction management contracts, implementing standardized processes, overseeing project execution, developing contractor partnerships, and ensuring every installation is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities Client Contract Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for Allied's construction management agreements with clients

Manage contract terms, scope compliance, and client deliverables throughout the project lifecycle

Ensure all contractual obligations are met, including reporting, documentation, and communication requirements

Address contract-related issues and coordinate change order management

Project Operations & Execution

Direct construction management operations across multiple concurrent projects

Supervise Construction Managers, Project Managers, and field coordination staff

Ensure installations meet Allied Steel Buildings' quality standards and design specifications

Maintain schedule compliance, budget performance, and quality outcomes across all projects

Systems & Process Implementation

Establish standardized workflows for project execution, closeout, and documentation

Implement job cost tracking and financial reporting systems

Develop and deploy safety protocols and quality control documentation standards

Create standardized subcontractor agreement templates and bid solicitation procedures

Oversee integration of project management software and reporting platforms

Contractor Network Development & Management

Establish and manage Allied's regional network of qualified erection contractors

Develop contractor pre-qualification criteria, safety requirements, and performance standards

Monitor contractor performance and enforce compliance with Allied standards

Collaborate on preferred installation methodologies and best practices

Safety & Quality Assurance

Implement comprehensive jobsite safety programs in coordination with safety consultants

Ensure consistent quality control documentation across all projects

Track and resolve rework requirements, safety incidents, and field challenges

Maintain Allied's commitment to a zero-incident safety culture

Requirements Required Qualifications

Experience & Industry Knowledge

Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in steel erection, construction management, or industrial installation with demonstrated career advancement

Proven track record managing field operations across multiple simultaneous projects valued at $1M+ each

Deep understanding of pre-engineered metal building systems, structural steel erection methods, and building envelope installation

Experience with commercial, industrial, agricultural, or institutional building markets

Leadership & Team Management

Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and lead high-performing construction management teams

Experience establishing organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities in growth environments

Strong mentoring and coaching skills with the ability to elevate team capabilities

Extensive background in subcontractor management, including pre-qualification, bidding, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation

Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with erection contractors, specialty trades, and suppliers

Experience resolving contractor performance issues and enforcing quality and safety standards

Operational & Systems Expertise

Experience establishing construction management processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures

Proficiency with project management software, scheduling tools, and construction management platforms

Strong understanding of job costing, budget management, and financial reporting for construction projects

Knowledge of contract administration, change order management, and claims prevention

Safety & Compliance

Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, jobsite safety requirements, and steel erection safety standards

Experience implementing and managing safety programs, including training, incident investigation, and corrective actions

Technical & Communication Skills

Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to clients, senior management, and field teams

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure

Proven negotiation skills and ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations

Business Acumen

Demonstrated understanding of construction business operations, including estimating, preconstruction, and project delivery methods

Experience contributing to strategic planning, business development, and operational growth initiatives

Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic vision

Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field

Professional certifications such as CCM (Certified Construction Manager), PMP (Project Management Professional), or equivalent

OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification or equivalent safety credentials

Experience with metal building manufacturers, general contractors, or construction management firms

Knowledge of design-build project delivery and value engineering processes
