Kerndell delivers expert technical staffing, staff augmentation, auditing, and quality assurance for the oil, gas & energy sector. Job Description This is a remote position. Kerndell is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support internal teams and client projects by developing clear, structured, and ISO-aligned documents such as Work Instructions, best-practice documents, and technical briefings. This contract role focuses on converting existing best-practice, procedural, and process documentation into practical, well‑structured documents that can be used within quality and management systems. The Technical Writer will work directly with Kerndell staff and client subject matter experts to document how work is performed in a clear, consistent, and auditable manner. This is a client‑facing role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to documentation. Key Responsibilities Review existing best‑practice, procedural, and process documents provided by Kerndell or its clients Develop ISO‑aligned documents such as Work Instructions, best practices, and technical briefings using Kerndell’s approved templates Ensure documentation is clear, concise, logically sequenced, and easy for end users to follow Maintain consistent formatting, terminology, and writing style across all documents Interview subject matter experts to gather, clarify, and validate process steps and requirements Translate technical and operational discussions into accurate, actionable written documentation Identify and communicate gaps, missing inputs, assumptions, or unclear steps in source materials Incorporate feedback from Kerndell reviewers and client stakeholders Support document standardization across multiple clients and projects Follow established document control practices, including versioning and revision management This is a contract role for a project that we expect to last about 300 hours. While this position is open to anyone in the United States, the ideal candidate would be located in Houston, Texas. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (required) Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in technical writing, procedural documentation, or manual development Demonstrated experience creating structured technical documents, work instructions, or manuals Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, including templates, styles, tables, and formatting controls Proven ability to interview subject matter experts and convert discussions into clear documentation Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple documents and priorities Comfortable working directly with clients and internal teams Preferred Qualifications College degree (associate’s or bachelor’s) in a related field Experience supporting quality or management systems in regulated or controlled environments Exposure to ISO standards and management system frameworks Experience using SharePoint for document collaboration and version control Familiarity with document control practices Prior experience supporting oil and gas, manufacturing, or industrial organizations #J-18808-Ljbffr
