System One is seeking an Electrical Designer II / III with design experience to join our client's Electrical Department in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a great opportunity to get involved on challenging and interesting design projects within the Power/Energy and Industrial Markets!

Important Details

6 month contract opportunity with possibility of conversion to a permanent position

Pay rate range: Level II $38.65 - $48.32, Level III $48.65 - $60.87. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Start date: As soon as possible

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours

Work location: Onsite at our client's office in Charlotte, NC 28273

Responsibilities

Involved in application of general design practices

Will select and recommend procedures in design and prepare preliminary designs for Engineers approval

Performs non routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project

Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, and coordinates the work

Reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical requirements and design approaches

Review work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements

Position skills are heavily focused on electrical design but have a working technical knowledge of other discipline design requirements

May be designated as the technical services design checker on assigned project

Capable of coordinating with others within their discipline to successfully complete project assignments

Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications, as-built documentation, on-site procurement and installation supervision

Design review to assure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and project requirements

Lead a team of Designers while maintaining schedules and budgets with Project Lead

Design raceway systems including underground ductbanks, cable tray and above ground conduit

Design lighting systems including interior, exterior and roadway lighting

Design grounding systems

Coordination with engineering and other crafts to assure a complete, coordinated design

Requirements

High school diploma or Associates Degree with adequate drafting courses

Minimum of 7+ years of electrical design experience within the Power/Energy and Industrial Industry areas

2D and 3D CAD experience required

Must have a working knowledge and computer-aided drafting applications AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required

Must be able to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and take direction from others

Willingness to travel and work in office and field environments as necessary.

Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code

Preferred Requirements

Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree.

Experience with AVEVA E3D and/or Bentley MicroStation preferred.

Certificate in Design/Drafting.

10-12 years of electrical design experience preferred.

Physical Demands Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely.

Work Environment Work will be in a general office environment operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Occasionally required to work in an industrial location where noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
