About the Job This position will support the teaching mission of the Marketing Department in the Carlson School of Management via the development and delivery of both in-person and online courses. There may also be an opportunity to guide students in experiential project‑based learning.

Courses taught could include the following at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels: Advertising & Promotion, Brand Management, Brand Strategy, Business Fundamentals for Marketing, Buyer Behavior, Customer Experience Management, Data‑Driven Marketing, Digital Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Marketing Channels, Marketing Intelligence, Marketing Management, Marketing Research, Marketing Strategy, Pricing Strategy, Principles of Marketing, Project Management, Strategic Marketing, as well as other future, new courses under development.

Duties and Responsibilities

Development of course materials (i.e. syllabus, handouts, assignments, exams, etc.)

Delivery of course content in multiple formats:

In‑person (i.e., classroom)

Online (e.g., synchronous, asynchronous)

Hybrid (i.e., in‑person + online)

Selection of textbook and/or other readings

Evaluation of student work

Maintenance of course records

Oversight of Learning Management System (i.e., Canvas)

Ensuring compliance with federal Inclusive Access requirements

Supervision of teaching assistants

Service on committees, task forces, etc.

Collaboration with faculty and staff in Marketing and other departments

Regular interaction with students (e.g., office hours)

Qualifications Required qualifications:

Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) in a relevant Field, plus at least ten (10) years related industry and/or teaching experience

OR

Master's degree plus at least fifteen (15) years related industry and/or teaching experience

Preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching:

At both the undergraduate and graduate levels

In in‑person, online (synchronous and asynchronous), and hybrid formats

Ability to offer courses and learning experiences in areas noted in the position description

Demonstrated leadership in client management and experiential project‑based learning

Familiarity with the Carlson School of Management and the University of Minnesota

Willingness to participate in departmental meetings and organizational activities

Desire to embrace — and lead — change in a dynamic AI‑driven education landscape

Entrepreneurial agility — the ability to operate both independently and with teams

Commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and improvement

Passion for making a positive difference in the lives of students

Individuals must be eligible to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for H‑1B or Green Card sponsorship.

About the Department The Marketing Department consists of 14 tenured and tenure‑track faculty members, 5 full‑time Senior Lecturers, several adjunct instructors, and 15 Ph.D. students. The Marketing Department is located in the Carlson School of Management, which is recognized globally as a leading institution in business education and research. The teaching mission of the department includes undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and executive education.

Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $95,000 - $110,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
