Department Program Center Reports to Program Center Manager Position Purpose Responsible for planning and implementing a quality recreation, leisure and physical fitness program for the Villagers taking into consideration their interests and abilities, including participation in community activities. This position will be part of the AFLS curriculum delivery team through developing meaningful activities and instruction to reinforce skills acquisition and maintenance. Responsible for planning and implementing Community Inclusion/Outreach opportunities for the Villagers. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid Class C Georgia Driver’s License, proof of vehicle insurance, and meet company policy regarding MVR requirements. Must meet state requirements regarding a GBI and FBI criminal history record check which requires fingerprinting. Must undergo and pass a drug screening and screening for Tuberculosis. Major Duties and Responsibilities Plans, instructs, demonstrates and assists Villagers in performing appropriate recreational and physical fitness activities for wellness and leisure skills development. Assists with the development of person centered training routines to be followed in the fitness center. Works in collaboration with therapy group to maintain training routines. Responsible for adapting activities to meet the physical and developmental abilities of all Villagers. Works with other Program Center areas to plan on and off campus activities. Responsible for documenting Villager activities in the electronic record system. Acts as agency coordinator for Special Olympics; plans and chaperones all Special Olympics/Team Activities events in which the Villagers participate. Plans and/or assists in planning parties, field trips and special activities to include monitoring of Villagers at these events. Places requisitions for recreational equipment and materials needed for activities and special events that are within budget. Provide feedback for Care Plan meetings for Villager, evaluating and giving input regarding Villagers’ progress and goal setting as needed. Assists with maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the Program Center and recreation equipment. Assists Villagers with personal hygiene as needed. Attends all required and assigned trainings and meetings. Provides engaging programming on assigned Saturdays. Provides monitoring at dining hall as assigned. Must be available to work nights and weekends. Performs other duties that may be necessary in the best interest of Annandale at Suwanee, Inc. to meet the personal service and care of the Villagers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Personal Skills and Traits Desired/ Physical Requirements Ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to count, add, and subtract. Ability to problem solve and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands; use fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, and walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl. Employee is required to lift up to 25 pounds and/or move up to 75 pounds (with assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to transport (drive) and assist Villagers in and out of vehicles. Employee is required to perform CPR/First Aid.
