
Crime Analyst (HALO Real Time Crime Center Analyst)

General Statement of Duties

The Crime Center (HALO) Analyst will provide real-time intelligence and analytical support to assist responding officers and detectives, enhancing both officer safety and the effectiveness of criminal investigations. Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating urgent information to agency personnel. Will create and provide other documents, presentations, or various intelligence products to support the agency mission.
Essential Duties
The Henrico Police Division is starting a Real Time Crime Center, known as HALO - Henrico Analytic Law-Enforcement Operations Center. The Crime Center analyst is responsible for the identification, analysis, and dissemination of information and intelligence relating to police calls for service. The position supports Patrol Bureau Officers and Criminal Investigative Detectives in their efforts to respond to calls safely and efficiently with the most intelligence they can have prior to and upon arrival.
Monitoring radio transmissions and providing real time intelligence is a primary function. Analysts will utilize police radios and computer aided dispatch systems to effectively communicate with officers.
Assigned tasks include, but not limited to:
• Proficiently performs basic duties allocated to one specialty unit, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
• Utilizes law enforcement radio systems and other communications systems to effectively communicate with responding officers to provide real time intelligence that will aid in an incident.
• Ensure the effective operation of integrated systems combining live and recorded camera feeds, computer-aided dispatch, and police radio communications.
• Disseminate real time information to patrol officers and detectives to provide suspect leads.
• Utilizes various department-specific and task-specific databases and software to collect and evaluate suspect and caller information to identify subjects and disseminate intelligence in the most relevant, actionable format.
• Liaisons with other agencies to obtain and/or disseminate information about criminal activity.
• Develops or assists with the development of data reports and related products.
• Provide court testimony when necessary.
• Provides basic crime intelligence training for police personnel as needed.
• Maintains accurate records of inquiries conducted in accordance with Division, State, and Federal regulations.
• Documentation of activities is mandatory for analysts, and they may be requested to present their work to other Division members.
The successful candidate will possess:
• Considerable knowledge of statistics, data analysis, and presentation skills.
• Attention to detail
• Ability to critically think
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to a diverse audience are necessary
May be assigned to work daytime, evening, or night and weekend shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) year degree in criminal justice, statistics or other related field preferred and two (2) years of relevant experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information
The expected hiring salary range for this position is $62,605.04 - $73,769.63 and is based on experience.
Preferred relevant job experience including video management systems or emergency communications. Prior training and experience in Fusus by Axon, Flock Safety, and social media platforms.
A criminal history check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
