Position Summary
We are seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Director of Asset Development to lead the end-to-end development of a specific power generation project.
This individual will serve as the Owner’s Representative for a single plant location , responsible for advancing the project from early-stage development through plant commercial operation . The role encompasses site control, interconnection, permitting, engineering coordination, commercial alignment, and EPC execution.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical and commercial acumen with a proven ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects in a dynamic, capital-efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle development of an assigned generation asset from origination through commercial operation.
- Manage site selection, land control (leases, purchases, easements), and local stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee environmental diligence, permitting strategy, and regulatory approvals.
- Direct interconnection strategy including filings, queue management, and coordination with ISOs/RTOs and utilities.
- Define project scope, basis of design, and technical requirements in collaboration with OEM and engineering partners.
- Lead EPC strategy including contractor prequalification, RFP execution, bid evaluation, and contract negotiation.
- Serve as Owner’s Representative through pre-construction, ensuring alignment on engineering, schedule, cost, and risk.
- Maintain accountability for project schedule, budget, risk tracking, and reporting.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts across Commercial, Legal, Finance, EHS, and Engineering teams.
- Support commercial structuring efforts (PPA, capacity, tolling, or merchant strategies) to ensure project viability.
- Assist Finance with project budgets, investment materials, and diligence packages.
- Manage relationships with utilities, EPC firms, consultants, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent the company in negotiations, public forums, and regulatory proceedings as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in power project development, with a focus on thermal or dispatchable generation assets.
- Demonstrated experience advancing projects from site control through commercial operation.
- Strong understanding of interconnection processes across major markets (MISO, ERCOT, PJM, SPP, etc.).
- Experience working with EPC contractors and serving in an Owner’s Representative capacity.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex workstreams within a single project environment.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within an IPP, utility, developer, or energy infrastructure platform.
- Familiarity with large-load customers (e.g., data centers, industrial users) and co-located generation strategies.
- Experience with natural gas supply, pipeline coordination, or fuel strategy.
- Background in both technical development and commercial structuring.
- MBA or advanced technical degree.
- Project Ownership: Takes full accountability for delivering a single asset from concept to commercial operation.

Physical Requirements
