The DeputyRegional Director of Public Health in the South West regional team is anexciting opportunity to join a multi-professional public health team at theheart of implementing new government and NHS policy and collaborating withdynamic local systems in a diverse and vibrant region. Basedprimarily in the regional OHID office in Bristol, the role spans the South Westregion including Bath,Wiltshire, Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly,Devon and Dorset, working with 7 ICBs, colleagues in UKHSA SW regional teamand an excellent network of local authority Directors of Public Health andtheir teams. The primary purpose of the Deputy RegionalDirector (DRD) is to work together with the Regional Director (RD) and deputiseon their behalf to lead the delivery of regional priorities for public healthacross the three domains of public health (improvement, protection andhealthcare public health) and leadership with strategic partners within theSouth West region.The DRD is a senior public health expert whoon behalf of the RD takes the lead for specific programmes of work regionallyand nationally as agreed. The DRD works closely with the RD and operationalservice areas to set strategic direction through strong, visible andprofessional leadership and is responsible for ensuring that the RD receivesappropriate assurance on the effective delivery of operational performance bythe regional teams. The DRD will support the RD to lead the development and implementationof an integrated regional strategy for public health driving transformationalchange as necessary to deliver both national and local priorities, reducehealth inequalities and improve population health. The RD and their teamsrequire close relationships with local government, the NHS and other localpartners in the delivery of OHID services and functions locally throughprovision of expert advice and services, including bringing local insight andperspective to national policies. Alongside RDs, DRDs are responsible forstrategic relationship management across a range of internal and externalstakeholders and for broader partnership working, operating flexibly to developproductive working relationships, systems and joint approaches and leadarrangements with others to maximise OHIDs impact. Applicants must meet either of the following: Inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) or Inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) All candidates must meet the faculty of Public Health Competencies expected of all public health consultants/ specialists The full essential criteria is listed in the attached job description.
