Role Description This full-time on-site role, based in San Antonio, TX, is for a Solar PV Designer II and includes the following responsibilities.

Serving as project designer for commercial and utility scale solar projects.

Designing preliminary layouts and final permit packages based on the potential client’s needs and building property specifications.

Leading project calculations, component sizing and overall design for solar PV systems.

Creating drawings of proposed systems, including solar carports, roof-top solar arrays, and ground-mounted solar arrays.

Creating production models using PVSyst, Helioscope and SolarAnywhere.

Coordinating with utilities and AHJ on project design, permitting, and execution.

Communicating and managing vendors and subcontractors.

Using AutoCAD and SketchUp to complete design to local AHJ requirements.

Comply with building codes, engineering practices, safety codes, regulatory codes, and NEC standards.

Coordinating with other members of the engineering and sales team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that designs are feasible and compatible with the property.

Attending customer meetings throughout sales and construction cycles.

Assist with system monitoring and performance analysis.

Qualifications

Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar software for solar system design

Knowledge of electrical design, system layouts, and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for site evaluation and solar energy generation analysis

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate design concepts clearly

Attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and quality in design work

4-year degree or equivalent practical experience, or other technical degree from an accredited college

2+ years of experience in solar PV system design or related field

Understanding of permitting processes and local jurisdiction requirements for solar projects

Passion for renewable energy and sustainability
