ZIO is a dynamic, innovative company looking for a talented AV & Lighting Sales Engineer to join our team. This role supports our sales process by helping turn client needs into clear, well‑defined scopes and proposal deliverables. You’ll collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and clients to shape solutions that are easy to understand, aligned with budget, and ready to be presented to the client.
As an AV & Lighting Sales Engineer, you will help evaluate project requirements, review drawings and specifications, support client conversations, and prepare solution outlines and proposal documentation. You are not responsible for engineering drawings, CAD work, DSP configuration, or control programming—those tasks belong to our technical design team. Every project must be better than the one before, and “good enough” doesn’t exist. At the same time, ZIO values balance—we encourage a healthy life‑work balance, asking everyone to put life before work.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the sales team to review and qualify opportunities early in the process and help define scope direction
Review drawings, bid forms and project documents to evaluate technical requirements and solution considerations

Translate technical concepts into clear, business‑friendly language
Attend client or partner meetings with Sales as the technical support resource
Document conversations and ensure alignment between sales, engineering, and operations
Develop proposal narratives, scope summaries, budget‑level outlines, and design engagement letters
Ensure client‑facing documents are clear, accurate, and reflect agreed‑upon scope
Maintain opportunity notes and project detail within CRM and Insight
Strengthen relationships with existing clients through ongoing solution support
Recommend refreshes, upgrades, or roadmap planning tied to client budget cycles
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in AV, lighting controls, low‑voltage integration, or related building technology markets

How To Apply & What Happens Next We receive a significant number of applications and we're a small team. That means you need to stand out to actually get reviewed by the hiring manager (who does not see every application!). Please follow these steps carefully or your application likely won't get to a hiring manager!
Step 1:
Write a brief cover letter and answer the following questions.
In your own words, what is the main purpose of a Sales Engineer at ZIO?
Describe how you approach collaborating with both technical and non‑technical team members?
How do you ensure your documentation and solution are clear and easy for others to understand?

ZIO’s core values are accountability, resilience, and proactivity. Pick one and share a story that demonstrates how you’ve lived that value in a past role.
