About the Role

Join our dynamic Law and Motion/Appellate Team at Manning Kass, where we are seeking a talented attorney with at least 2 years of experience. This vital team serves as the backbone of our practice, providing crucial written advocacy that enhances our litigators' efforts in all areas of law.

As part of our Law and Motion/Appellate Team, you will play a significant role in shaping litigation strategies and crafting effective motions, fostering collaboration while gaining hands-on experience alongside seasoned attorneys.

Responsibilities

• Draft pretrial motions and oppositions, covering pleading-related motions, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.
• Prepare trial motions and trial-related documents, including motions in limine, trial briefs, pocket briefs, and jury instructions.
• Create post-trial motions, such as motions for new trial and motions for attorney's fees.
• Manage appellate cases and conduct arguments, benefiting from the mentorship of experienced appellate practitioners.
• Perform legal research and advise clients and litigation attorneys on complex legal issues.
• Evaluate litigation and appellate strategies for effectiveness.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• Active membership in California State Bar and in good standing.
• Law review or significant legal writing experience is advantageous.
• Outstanding research and writing skills with strong analytical capabilities.
• Prior Judicial Clerkship or Externship is a plus.
• Experience as a criminal defense attorney is beneficial but not mandatory.
