Overview Rapiscan Systems designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products range from handheld metal detectors to Real Time Tomography used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs, money, and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations and nuclear facilities.

The Export Specialist performs administrative duties in support of activities related to the shipping of finished goods, receiving of incoming materials, and inventory accuracy. The role communicates and coordinates with transportation companies, handles routine questions and problems, and maintains open communication with other departments throughout the shipping/delivery cycle. Responsibilities include confirming the accuracy of all freight quotes and export paperwork, including commercial invoices, SLI (shippers letter of instruction), DG (dangerous goods) documentation, and ACE filings. The Specialist transacts all shipments in the ERP system, files and distributes paperwork as necessary, and maintains records per government regulations. The role ensures effective import and export compliance at multiple business units in accordance with U.S. and international import and export laws and Rapiscan’s compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Create, fulfill, and close production orders.

Communicate with clients and shippers to resolve complaints.

Prepare shipping quotes for customers and negotiate shipping fees with couriers.

Address and resolve shipment and inventory issues.

Maintain excellent customer service skills and work independently without direct management.

Monitor shipments, costs, timelines, and productivity.

Ensure the safe and timely pickup and delivery of shipments.

Request freight quotes from approved carriers for all shipments.

Complete all required shipping documents.

Interact daily with cross‑functional teams, including compliance, sales operations, and order fulfillment.

Transact all receipts and/or shipments in the ERP system.

Perform daily cycle counts and maintain 5S in the Shipping/Receiving area.

Receive incoming materials, supplies, and equipment, verify PO receipts against hard copies, and reject discrepant material.

Process all incoming material in the ERP system.

Pick and pack customer orders to 100% accuracy.

Be computer proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, and willing to learn internal software.

Maintain an accurate record of shipment information.

Assist in training entry‑level employees.

Operate pallet jack or forklift.

Qualifications

High School diploma.

Minimum 4 years’ experience with international shipping.

General knowledge of ERP systems and inventory control.

Strong Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and communication skills.

Pallet jack operation and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
