Commercial Lender

The Commercial Lender is responsible for driving business development by attracting new commercial clients, deepening relationships with existing customers, and expanding overall portfolio growth. This role focuses on originating new lending and deposit relationships, cross-selling a full range of Midwest Heritage products and services and maintaining strong customer retention. The position also includes ongoing relationship management and oversight of portfolio performance to ensure long-term client success and sound asset quality. Core competencies include customer service, professionalism, sales, networking and relationship building, and loan knowledge. Reporting relations include accountability to the Central Iowa Market President with no positions reporting to this role. Primary duties and responsibilities include: Responsible for meeting or exceeding loan and deposit production goals in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements to maximize profitability of the organization while minimizing risk. Serve as the primary advisor for an assigned portfolio of diverse and complex commercial relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and retention. Facilitate credit requests, including loan structuring, negotiating/pricing, collateral, ensuring adequate loan documentation, and analyzing industry/credit risk. Develop key relationships in the market by promoting a positive image of Midwest Heritage in the community through active participation in professional and civic group activities. Build additional relationships across Midwest Heritage banking (deposit, mortgage, etc.), financial and insurance services, to existing and potential Ag and/or commercial customers. Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include: Must have a friendly positive attitude, strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to approach people. Self-motivation, strong work ethic and the ability to build personal relationships. Must be able to work independently with little daily supervision. Must possess competitive spirit. Excellent organizational skills, work with detail, high level of accuracy, and follow-up skills are required. Required to be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Will always present themselves in a professional manner. Must have proficiency of PC with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook. Obsession with customer service. Education and experience include: Bachelor's degree in finance, Business or related field with a minimum of 5+ year's agricultural and/or commercial lending experience. Must have valid driver's license and meet requirement for use of company vehicle. Physical requirements include: This position is classified sedentary/light and requires the ability to sit for long periods of time. Visual requirements include ability to see detail at near range with or without correction. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: sitting for long periods, talking (in person and by telephone), hearing and repetitive motions. Working conditions include: The duties of this position are normally performed in a general office setting. This is a fast-paced work environment. There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.
