Role Description The Assistant Technical Designer plays a key support role within the Technical Design team, partnering closely with Product Development and Production to bring ready-to-wear, intimates, and accessories from concept to production. This position focuses on building and updating tech packs, maintaining accurate spec data, managing samples, and tracking fit and approval status to keep styles on schedule. It is a strong fit for someone highly organized, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Technical & Product Development Support Assist with garment measurements for womens and womens plus styles and help build, revise, and maintain tech packs and spec sheets. Support fit sessions by confirming samples and measurements ahead of fittings, capturing detailed fit notes, updating measurement charts, and recording pattern or construction changes. Help verify that samples meet required standards for fit, construction, and overall aesthetic before moving forward to approval. Coordinate incoming and outgoing samples and approvals with vendors and internal partners in Design, Product Development, and Production. Timeline & Calendar Management Assist in updating and monitoring technical development and production calendars to support on-time execution of key seasonal milestones. Partner with Product Development and Production to align critical dates and communicate changes or risks to timelines. Follow up with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure timely submission of samples, fit comments, and approvals. Work with the Technical Design and Product Development teams on process improvements that streamline workflows and reduce errors. Support the creation and upkeep of documentation required for smooth handoff from development to production. Operational & Administrative Support Track development packages, shipments, and sample check-ins, ensuring the status of each style is clearly documented. Maintain organized digital and physical records of samples, fit comments, approvals, and related communication. Support clear and timely communication across Design, Product Development, Production, and vendor partners. Qualifications Bachelor’s/Associates degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Production, or a closely related discipline. 1–2 years of experience in Technical Design, Product Development, or Apparel Production in lieu of degree. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Solid understanding of garment construction and fit principles. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for flats, callouts, and updates to technical sketches. Exceptional attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines at once. Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills and strong follow-up habits.
