Position Overview
We are seeking an Interim Indirect Tax Manager to support a large, multi-location consumer business during a key transition period. This is a hands-on role focused on sales and use tax compliance, filings, audits, and tax accounting, with immediate ownership and minimal onboarding. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review multi-state sales and use tax returns Manage monthly tax accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules Prepare and file business licenses, property tax, and other indirect tax filings Coordinate and respond to state and local tax audits and notices Ensure timely and accurate tax remittances and compliance across jurisdictions Support VAT filings (as applicable) for international operations Partner with accounting and finance teams during month-end close Maintain and improve indirect tax processes and documentation Qualifications
5+ years of indirect tax experience (sales & use tax required) Experience preparing and reviewing multi-state tax filings Background in retail, restaurant, consumer products, or multi-location environments strongly preferred Hands-on experience with tax systems such as: Vertex, One Source, Avalara Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) Strong understanding of tax accounting and reconciliation processes Experience supporting or managing tax audits Desired Skills and Experience
