Job Description: AutoCAD Drafter
We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter to support ongoing and upcoming projects by producing accurate AutoCAD drawings from hand sketches and markups. This role is focused on high-volume drafting and documentation rather than 3D modeling or design. The ideal candidate is comfortable working to deadlines and supporting a fast‑paced production environment.
Responsibilities
Convert hand sketches, redlines, and markups into accurate AutoCAD drawings.
Ensure drawings are properly scaled, dimensioned, and clearly detailed.
Produce and revise drawings related to structural steel, concrete rebar, and general construction.
Read and interpret technical drawings and layouts while managing multiple active projects with competing priorities and tight timelines.
Utilize internal drafting tools, standards, and templates.
Collaborate with internal teams to address drawing updates and revisions as needed.
Essential Skills
1–3 years of experience as a CAD Drafter or AutoCAD Draftsman.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting).
Ability to read and interpret construction and fabrication drawings.
Experience detailing steel and/or concrete rebar is preferred.
Comfortable working in a production-driven environment with frequent revisions.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Prior experience supporting fabrication projects.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Station, IN.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
