Job Description and Duties Under the general supervision of the Tax Administrator I (TAI), the Senior Tax Compliance Representative (STCR) assists the TAI by monitoring ongoing work activities and providing technical support to the staff. The STCR independently performs the most involved, difficult, and sensitive compliance activities and handles multiple competing priorities. The incumbent trains, develops, and assists staff in all aspects of the tax collection process and may provide assistance in the Service Center during periods of high call volumes.
STCR must adhere strictly to applicable laws, regulations, and policies, possess basic PC skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel), be approachable, tactful, and treat people at all levels with dignity and respect, and possess strong communication skills, including writing, speaking, and listening. The STCR serves as a role model for subordinate staff and maintains a professional appearance and demeanor. The incumbent must be flexible and adaptable to change, maintain confidential information, and support management while directing staff toward the department’s mission and vision goals.
Effective July 1 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction of 2%‑4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. The position is headquartered in Rancho Cordova and may be eligible for telework under EDD’s telework policy; California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the employee’s responsibility.
