Job Title: Senior Instructional Content Designer

Location: Hybrid – Jackson, MI Preferred (open to other service centers of client in MI)

Employment Type: Contract through Sep 16, 2026 (High potential for extension)

Position Overview: The Senior Instructional Content Designer will lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of the company-wide Playbook, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and associated training curriculum. This role focuses heavily on content strategy, UX/UI for learning, graphic design, and simplifying complex operational processes into clear, engaging, and visually structured materials.

Key Responsibilities: Playbook & SOP Development

Lead end-to-end creation, revision, and integration of the company Playbook into existing SOPs, work instructions, tools, templates, and training curriculum.

Use assets provided by the Communications Team to format, package, and publish content into the Playbook format, manuals, guidebooks, and binders.

Rewrite, reorganize, simplify, and standardize large volumes of documentation across multiple databases.

Build supplementary learning materials (brochures, pocket guides, handbooks, job aids, marketing-aligned assets).

Ensure all content is print-ready and follows digital/print production standards.

Instructional Design + UX/UI

Perform instructional design aligned with adult learning principles and UX/UI strategy.

Translate complex technical processes into intuitive, visually appealing step-by-step content.

Design templates, tools, and visual layouts for both digital and print delivery.

Align curriculum with continuous improvement framework and future-state workflows.

Support development of a culture centred on continuous improvement, clear procedures, and tool adoption.

Integrate Continuous Improvement (CI) framework into learning materials and Playbook assets.

Ensure leaders understand, adopt, and champion Playbook and SOP expectations through content provided.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with leadership and individual contributors across departments to gather requirements and validate content.

Conduct analysis phases to align on future-state needs before execution.

Measure content performance using adoption rates, completion metrics, and feedback loops.

Manage organization and execution of document/database cleanup and consolidation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Advanced expertise in Instructional Design, Graphic Design, and Content Strategy.

Master-level writing, editing, formatting, and visual communication skills.

Strong UX/UI mindset for designing learning experiences and templates.

Demonstrated experience simplifying and restructuring complex systems and large content libraries.

Expertise in digital and print production standards (booklets, playbooks, pocket guides, manuals).

Experience preparing print-ready and digital-ready materials.

Strong document/database management and content organization skills.

Experience collaborating with leadership and cross-functional teams.

Tools & Software Requirements:

Articulate (Preferred)

Figma (Plus)

MS Office tools only for portfolio uploads (o Google Drive links allowed)

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in Lean, Continuous Improvement, or process improvement frameworks.

Experience with SOP/playbook creation for enterprise environments.

Experience in content performance measurement and feedback analysis.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Communications, Journalism, Media Production, Graphic Design, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
