Position Summary South Coast Lumber Company is seeking a dependable and observant

Plant Protection Associate

to help maintain the safety and security of our mill operations during night shift hours. This role is responsible for protecting company property, monitoring facilities, and ensuring a safe working environment for employees and contractors.

The position requires frequent foot patrols throughout mill facilities, monitoring buildings, equipment, and grounds while identifying potential safety or security concerns. Ideal candidates are reliable, attentive to detail, comfortable working independently, and capable of remaining alert throughout overnight hours.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular foot patrols throughout plant facilities, buildings, and grounds to monitor for safety and security concerns

Monitor entrances, exits, and plant activity during overnight hours

Observe and report unusual activity, unsafe conditions, or potential security risks

Respond to alarms, incidents, or emergencies and notify appropriate personnel when necessary

Ensure gates, doors, and restricted areas are properly secured

Maintain accurate incident reports and shift logs

Assist with enforcing company safety policies and site access procedures

Coordinate with management, maintenance, or emergency services when needed

Help maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk and patrol large industrial facilities for extended periods of time

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Ability to climb stairs, navigate uneven terrain, and access different areas of the plant

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally

Ability to remain alert and responsive during overnight shifts

Qualifications

Previous security, plant protection, or industrial experience preferred

Strong observation and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation

Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations
