Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Residential Public Relations & Communications to spearhead a comprehensive public relations and communications strategy for CoStar Group's residential brands, focusing on Homes.com and Apartments.com. This role is crucial in driving awareness, engagement, media impressions, and overall share of voice in various media channels, including consumer, business, financial, technology, and real estate outlets.
The Senior Manager will work to establish Homes.com and Apartments.com as authoritative voices in the for-sale and rental housing markets, elevate proprietary data and insights, and secure impactful media opportunities for our senior leaders and in-house experts. This dynamic, hands-on position is based in Arlington, Virginia, and requires in-person attendance five days a week, reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an integrated public relations strategy for Homes.com and Apartments.com, positioning the brands as industry leaders in both for-sale and rental housing markets.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with national and regional journalists across real estate, housing, business, technology, finance, and consumer sectors.
- Promote proprietary residential data and insights through proactive media outreach and compelling storytelling.
- Craft written communications, including press releases, market reports, media pitches, and executive briefing materials.
- Secure high-profile interviews, TV appearances, and speaking engagements for residential brand leaders and subject-matter experts.
- Collaborate with external public relations agencies to ensure alignment with brand messaging and annual PR objectives.
- Work closely with Product Marketing, Corporate Communications, Content, social media, Product, and Design teams to identify engaging narratives and timely story opportunities.
- Translate complex residential market data into accessible insights through collaboration with economists, analysts, and data teams.
- Monitor daily media coverage, industry trends, and provide analysis to enhance PR strategy and messaging.
- Manage incoming media requests for data, commentary, and executive interviews.
- Track current events and housing-related news to generate relevant press opportunities.
- Produce 3-5 data-driven press releases monthly on residential topics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited in-person, not-for-profit University or College; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years professional experience in public relations or communications, with a strong emphasis on consumer and industry strategy.
- At least 3 years of experience in residential real estate, housing, rentals, or consumer marketplaces.
- Deep understanding of the media landscape and sound news judgment.
- Established relationships with reporters covering housing, real estate, business, finance, and economics.
- Proven ability to pitch creatively and secure earned media coverage.
- Experience collaborating with executive-level leaders on messaging and communications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives from data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiar with major social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook.
