Lead Medical Collections Specialist Location Houston, TX | Onsite Compensation & Schedule • $18.42–$19.73/hr • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM • W2, Contract • Start Date: 04/13/2026 ROLE IMPACT As a Lead Medical Collections Specialist, you will drive the resolution of medical account balances, supporting both patient and insurance collections with professionalism and compliance. Success in this role is defined by your ability to maintain detailed account documentation, deliver excellent customer service, and meet recovery and productivity targets in a healthcare billing environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Resolve outstanding patient and insurance balances through collections and appeals • Handle inbound calls and provide resolution with professionalism and urgency • Accurately document account updates in internal systems • Identify underpayments, overpayments, and initiate corrective actions • Support self-pay collection efforts with financial options and payment plans MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • 1-3 years in healthcare billing and collections within a hospital setting • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid • Experience with Meditech and Epic • High school diploma or equivalent work experience • Must reside within 30 miles of Houston, TX • Strong job tenure (=1 year at prior roles) CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS • Meditech • CollectLogix • Microsoft Word • Microsoft Excel PREFERRED SKILLS • Experience validating insurance claims against contractual rates • Ability to communicate claim trends or issues across teams PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS • In-person interview • Background check • Drug screen • Clerical testing By applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, AI-generated calls, text messages, or emails from CornerStone and its affiliates, and contracted partners.
