The Proposal Copy Editor supports the Request for Proposal (RFP) team by providing expert editorial review and copy editing for complex proposal documents. This role ensures clarity, accuracy, and strict adherence to branding and quality standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver polished, client-ready submissions.
Position Impact
This role plays a critical part in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of proposal submissions. By ensuring consistency, accuracy, and professionalism across all deliverables, the Proposal Copy Editor directly contributes to the success of client-facing materials and overall business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Review & Copy Editing
Perform detailed editing of proposal documents for grammar, clarity, tone, and consistency Ensure all materials align with established branding and style guidelines Refine content developed by subject matter experts into client-ready deliverables
Proposal Collaboration
Partner with proposal managers, sales teams, and subject matter experts Support timely delivery of high-quality RFP responses Contribute to the overall proposal development process
Content Quality & Compliance
Ensure all documents meet quality standards and branding requirements Review and enhance existing proposal materials for effectiveness Edit content across written documents and visual proposal elements
Process & Workflow Support
Track editorial progress and identify workflow improvements Support efficient project execution across multiple deadlines Maintain organization across large, complex documents
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in copy editing, proofreading, or proposal editing Insurance industry experience required High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Experience handling confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with RFP processes and proposal development Familiarity with Smartsheet or similar project management tools Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
