Purchasing/Receiving Porter - Main Event Caterers Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and organized Purchasing/Receiving Porter to join our culinary operations team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow of ingredients, supplies, and kitchen inventory for Main Event Caterers. The ideal candidate will be proactive, professional, and capable of maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, accuracy, and efficiency in line with our brand’s commitment to excellence.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Purchasing & Procurement Support

Assist with sourcing and purchasing high-quality ingredients, specialty products, and kitchen supplies.

Coordinate with vendors to place and track orders, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.

Monitor stock levels and notify management of low inventory or supply needs.

Maintain records of purchase orders, invoices, and supplier communications.

Receiving & Stock Management

Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming deliveries for quantity, quality, and condition.

Accurately log received goods into inventory systems and communicate discrepancies promptly.

Organize and label all inventory in designated storage areas, adhering to food safety protocols.

Ensure all items are stored under correct temperature and sanitation conditions.

Kitchen Support & Maintenance

Assist kitchen staff with retrieving and organizing ingredients and supplies as needed.

Maintain cleanliness and order in receiving and storage areas, including walk‑ins, dry storage, and utility spaces.

Dispose of waste and recyclables in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Participate in regular deep‑cleaning and sanitation tasks related to storage and transport areas.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of food safety and handling standards (e.g., ServSafe certification preferred).

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Basic computer skills for inventory systems and email communications.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Education and Experience

Prior experience in a receiving, stock, or porter role within a professional kitchen or hospitality environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and transport heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and work on foot for extended periods.

Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

Available nights, weekends, and holidays.
