Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance claim settlement. Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Examines damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage. Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item. Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors. Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before accident. Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations. Estimates cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles. Helps maintain good working relationships with insurance adjusters. Established and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business. Follows up on parts department order to ensure parts availability. Monitors progress and completion of assigned vehicles in the shop, ensuring proper repair procedures are followed. Checks quality of completed work. Monitors paper flow to ensure that all documents are accounted for, filled out completely and legibly, and filed or distributed to the appropriate parties. Prepares final billing for completed repair orders. Controls assigned accounts receivables for body repair work. Completes ICAR training classes as required. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute discount, commissions, and percent. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
