Overview
- The RSD must demonstrate a strong understanding of the local healthcare marketplace and local payer landscape. The position requires a knowledge of appropriate disease states as well as the ability to communicate necessary technical, scientific and product information to his/her teams. The RSD must be able to effectively collaborate with key Home Office (HO) and field-based personnel in developing effective Regional Business Plans that support and communicate SKLSI's Commercial strategies to his/her teams. The RSD must serve as a Compliance leader, communicating, supporting and enforcing all SKLSI's Commercial Practices and Policies
- The purpose of the RSD is to drive Regional business results while maximizing the potential of each member of his/her team
The Regional Sales Director (RSD) is responsible for providing sales leadership, business management, direction, coaching and development for a team of Specialty Sales Representatives reporting to him/her within an assigned geography, while achieving or exceeding SKLSI's business goals across the same geography
Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-state team of Specialty Sales Representatives (SSRs) in promotion of SKLSI's products to targeted Healthcare Professionals (HCPs). Each RSD will have between 8-10 SSRs reporting in to them
- Lead the Regional team in the achievement of SKLSI's specific product and business goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Direct the efforts of the Specialty Sales Representatives in the acquisition, expansion and retention of targeted business within the assigned area
- Provide routine coaching and feedback to the Specialty Sales Representatives that supports their development and the achievement of SKLSI's business objectives
- Develop focused Regional Business Plans that effectively translate SKLSI's Commercial objectives into actionable and achievable strategies/tactics at the Region level
- Manage and deploy resources (e.g. financial, field staff) to ensure achievement of objectives on time, on budget, and fully in accordance with SKLSI's high ethical, regulatory, legal and compliance standards
- Routine engagement with key Region customers in collaboration with both Home Office and other field-based personnel (Marketing, Market Development, Medical Affairs)
- Attract, hire, train, develop and retain associates who will drive a continuous level of high performance within their assigned geography
- Work with Area Executive Director (and other HO and field-based personnel) to support appropriate behaviors on the team that will lead to sales growth at the Region level
- Lead the Region team in compliance with all SKLSI Human Resource policies, procedures and systems
- Performance Management - Manage associate performance consistently across the Region. Responsible for delivering Field Coaching Reports, performance reviews, making recommendations for merit increases, Long-Term Incentive (LTI) awards, and equity adjustments as necessary
- Lead and support HO projects and initiatives as needed
- Effectively manage all administrative processes and responsibilities for the Region
Qualifications
Education Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree - Required
Work Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant Sales and/or Sales Leadership experience in the Pharmaceutical or related Healthcare markets
- 5+ years of Sales Leadership (managing Sales Representatives) of a high performing team
- Epilepsy and/or CNS experience in Neurology preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Work is typically performed in an office or field environment
- Travel is estimated at 60-80%
- May be required to routinely lift items ~25 pounds
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time
