Primary Purpose of the Position The Director of Human Resources Applications Support provides strategic leadership and operational management for the university’s enterprise HR technology systems supporting human resources, payroll, and employee data administration. This includes Banner HR/Payroll/Position Control, UKG Workforce Ready, NinerTalent, and the Learning and Development portal. The position ensures the reliability, security, and integrity of critical HR systems that support essential university operations, regulatory compliance, and employee lifecycle processes. The director collaborates with Human Resources leadership, OneIT, and campus stakeholders to plan and implement system enhancements, integrations, and process improvements that increase operational efficiency and support institutional priorities. The position is responsible for directing business analysts, overseeing complex system initiatives, and ensuring effective delivery of HR data reporting and analytics that inform operational and strategic decision‑making across the institution.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
Directs the administration, configuration, and ongoing support of HR systems to ensure reliability, data integrity, and effective service delivery.
Collaborates with Human Resources leadership and functional units to support HR business processes and identify opportunities for system improvements and automation.
Leads the planning, implementation, testing, and deployment of HR system enhancements, upgrades, and related technology initiatives.
Establishes and manages governance and change management processes for HR system modifications and releases.
Oversees integrations between HR systems and other institutional systems, including finance, identity management, and third‑party vendor solutions.
Directs the development and delivery of HR data reporting and analytics to support operational, compliance, and strategic needs.
Supervises HRIS staff, including assigning work, setting priorities, managing performance, and supporting professional development.
Serves as the primary liaison between Human Resources, Information Technology, and external vendors regarding HR systems and related initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a business or technology‑related field from an accredited institution.
7+ years of experience in administrative systems analysis and support; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
7–10 years of progressively responsible experience supporting HR information systems or enterprise applications.
Experience supporting HR and payroll systems in a higher education environment.
Knowledge of enterprise HRIS platforms, with specific experience administering Banner HR/Payroll and Position Control modules; must have a strong understanding of higher education business processes, including benefits and employee lifecycle management.
Experience implementing or supporting HR‑related SaaS platforms such as learning management, recruiting, and workforce management systems.
Experience leading HRIS projects, system upgrades, and enterprise integrations.
Experience managing technical or functional teams responsible for enterprise system support.
Knowledge of HR technology ecosystems, including talent management, learning management, recruiting, and workforce management platforms (e.g., Cornerstone, UKG Workforce Ready, PeopleAdmin).
Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance requirements related to employee data.
Knowledge of system integrations, reporting tools, and enterprise application architecture.
Ability to lead complex enterprise system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
Strong business analysis and process improvement skills to translate HR operational needs into system solutions.
Ability to manage cross‑functional projects and prioritize competing institutional priorities.
Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with HR leadership, IT teams, and external vendors.
Demonstrated leadership and staff management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
