Position We are seeking qualified Personal Care Aides for our Peninsula service locations to include Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Williamsburg, and York County.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of an approved training program in home health services to become a personal care aide, or licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide.
Empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired.
Effective communication of a patient’s condition.
Initiative and ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
Read, write, and communicate in English.
Reliable transportation and a smartphone.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal care including:
Baths—bed, tub, shower
Back rubs
Oral hygiene
Changing bed linen
Assisting the patient with dressing and undressing
Grooming—care of hair, including shampoo, shaving, ordinary care of nails, and skin care
Assisting with toileting activities
Assisting in feeding the patient, if necessary
Keeping patient’s living area clean and orderly
Prepare and serve simple diets.
Assist the patient in moving from bed to chair, to wheelchair, and in walking.
Report changes in the patient’s needs and condition to the supervising nurse.
Maintain simple records.
Perform incidental household tasks essential to the patient’s health needs:
Light housekeeping
Making and changing beds
Dusting, vacuuming, and mopping the rooms used by patient
Tidying the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom
Shopping for patient if no other arrangement is possible
Personal laundry of patient if no family member available or able
Perform range of motion and other simple procedures as an extension of therapy services as ordered (with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills/competency).
Record patient care activities daily.
Participate in case conferences.
Prioritize work/care tasks to ensure all duties and patient visits are completed when assigned.
Adhere to the Organization’s documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct.
Attend a minimum of twelve (12) hours of in‑service annually.
Participate in meetings as requested by the Clinical Director/Supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Note: CNAs and PCAs are never allowed to administer medications.

Pay: $12.50/hour (PCA) – $13.00/hour (CNA)
Ability to commute/relocate: Newport News, VA – reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
