Position Description
This position supports the teaching mission of the Marketing Department in the Carlson School of Management through the development and delivery of both in‑person and online courses.
There may also be an opportunity to guide students in experiential, project‑based learning.
Course Content Courses taught could include the following at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels:

Brand Management
Brand Strategy
Business Fundamentals for Marketing
Buyer Behavior
Customer Experience Management
Data‑Driven Marketing
Digital Marketing
Marketing Analytics
Marketing Channels
Marketing Intelligence
Marketing Management
Marketing Research
Marketing Strategy
Pricing Strategy
Principles of Marketing
Project Management
Strategic Marketing
Other future, new courses under development
Responsibilities
Develop course materials (syllabus, handouts, assignments, exams, etc.)
Deliver course content in multiple formats:
In‑person (classroom)
Online (synchronous and asynchronous)
Hybrid (in‑person + online)
Select textbooks and/or other readings
Evaluate student work
Maintain course records
Oversee the Learning Management System (Canvas)
Ensure compliance with federal Inclusive Access requirements
Supervise teaching assistants
Serve on committees, task forces, etc.
Collaborate with faculty and staff in Marketing and other departments
Interact regularly with students (e.g., office hours)
Required Qualifications
Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) in a relevant field plus at least 10 years of related industry and/or teaching experience
OR
Master’s degree plus at least 15 years of related industry and/or teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in teaching:
At undergraduate and graduate levels
In in‑person, online (synchronous and asynchronous), and hybrid formats
Ability to offer courses and learning experiences in the noted areas
Demonstrated leadership in client management and experiential project‑based learning
Familiarity with the Carlson School of Management and the University of Minnesota
Willingness to participate in departmental meetings and organizational activities
Desire to embrace – and lead – change in a dynamic AI‑driven education landscape
Entrepreneurial agility (operate independently and with teams)
Commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and improvement
Passion for making a positive difference in students’ lives
Eligibility Individuals must be eligible to work in the U.S.
This position is not eligible for H‑1B or Green Card sponsorship.
Department Overview The Marketing Department consists of 14 tenured and tenure‑track faculty members, 5 full‑time Senior Lecturers, several adjunct instructors, and 15 Ph.D. students. The department is located in the Carlson School of Management, globally recognized as a leading institution in business education and research. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $95,000 - $110,000 depending on education, qualifications, and experience.
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment.
Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff.
