Social Media Coordinator Location: Remote (UCSC Telecommuting/Remote Work Guidelines apply)

Job Summary The Social Media Coordinator supports UC Scout’s outreach and marketing efforts by designing and delivering strategic social media content across multiple platforms. The role, under the supervision of the Outreach and Marketing Supervisor, assists in the development and execution of social media campaigns to represent UC Scout to defined audiences.

Responsibilities

Content Creation & Planning (40%) : create and maintain original, on‑brand social media content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok); write engaging copy; adapt content for platform best practices and accessibility; explore new networks; ensure compliance with copyright, FERPA, and UC guidelines; maintain asset libraries and content calendars; use AI‑assisted tools.

Strategy, Campaign Management & Analytics (40%) : develop and implement social media plans; evaluate and adjust plans; analyze performance data to inform strategy; manage paid social campaigns, budgeting, audience targeting, and optimization; align strategy with enrollment, outreach, and SEO initiatives.

Community & Reputation Management (10%) : monitor channels, respond to inquiries and feedback, support crisis communication, foster positive interactions.

Collaboration & Trend Alignment (10%) : collaborate with marketing, outreach, and design partners; repurpose content; stay current with trends; explore partnerships and ambassadors.

Qualifications

Required : Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training; knowledge of design fundamentals, UX, and social media best practices; proficiency with content management systems and web applications; strong technical skills in web production, image handling, publishing, design, illustration, and animation; advanced interpersonal communication; problem‑solving skills.

Preferred : Ability to create clear, web‑ready sites that meet client objectives; understanding of applicable rules and regulations for web communications.

Appointment Information

Salary : $28.88 – $41.19 per hour (budgeted)

Benefits : Full benefits

Schedule : Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, Day shift

Work Location : Remote

Travel : Rarely

Special Conditions of Employment

Must pass a pre‑employment criminal history background check and employment misconduct disclosure process.

Must live in California or be willing to relocate.

Must comply with UCSC telecommuting agreement and be able to work from a remote office, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Must complete required UC compliance training within established time frames.

Required to comply with the University of California vaccination policy.

Required to report child abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter and sign the Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse prior to employment.
