Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety sensitive.

Position Summary Based in Clarendon, VT, the Purchasing Specialist will perform essential job functions associated with the timely and cost‑effective procurement of materials, maintaining quality and inventory control to support uninterrupted production.

Essential Job Functions (Duties And Responsibilities)

Managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, inventory budgets, and conducting cycle counts.

Effective communication with production and customers is crucial to ensure prompt delivery and inventory accuracy.

Execute purchasing functions to ensure materials are ordered at the best possible price and quality in a timely manner that assures uninterrupted process production while maximizing the economics of inventories.

Assure that purchase orders are accurate, organized, and written in a timely manner to support the production process.

Constantly evaluate the appropriate stocking level needed based on business growth.

Manage the Approved Supplier List.

Work with Quality to manage supplier corrective actions.

Provide a monthly report of inventory levels, spending to budget, and supplier scorecards.

Conduct physical inventories/cycle counts as necessary and follow up with accurate reporting and corrective actions on large discrepancies.

Control disposition of inventoried parts and materials. Assure accuracy of inventoried parts and updated information systems in a timely manner.

Create, monitor, and maintain a budget for all inventoried parts and materials.

Assure that materials received are consistent in quality, quantity, and type with the purchase order.

Observe all Environment, Health, and Safety Policy requirements.

Keep the work area neat and orderly at all times.

Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Disposal of waste per safety standards.

Qualifications

This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.

Education – Minimum of a high school diploma. Preferred Associate’s degree or higher.

2‑3 years of relevant office or business administration experience.

Familiarity with A/R, purchasing, and materials management processes.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Willingness to expand knowledge to other related areas through formal training.

Ability to use the appropriate systems to record and track data, order materials, and maintain appropriate documentation.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Strong MS Excel experience.

Experience with ERP systems.

Solid analytical and math skills.

Physical & Mental Demands

Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an office/industrial environment.

Must be able to move throughout the production shop for extended periods of time.

Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.

Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.

Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.

Ability to hear in person and via phone.

Pay Range The pay range for this position is $67,000‑$77,000 per year, depending upon experience and skills.
